  5.  Fast Load (FL.EXE) is a  very unique productivity tool which
  6. makes maximum use of available EMS or XMS on your computer to
  7. provide  instant Execution  Loading of  .EXE, .COM,  and .OVL
  8. type files.  Unlike Ram Disks,  you do not  need to have  any
  9. drive assignments  etc. for associated  data files. There  is
  10. additionally  no "Cluster-Size"  loss as  attributable to RAM
  11. Disks.  Simply put  FL.EXE in  your autoexec.bat  file with a
  12. list  of  the  executable  files  in  an  FL.DAT  file  (same
  13. subdirectory)  or  on  the  command  line.  Any time that DOS
  14. attempts to load these programs, they will be loaded from EMS
  15. or  XMS instead.  The Unregistered  Version is  limited to  a
  16. maximum  of   4  executable  programs   which  is  hardly   a
  17. restriction in  recognizing the efficiencies  of Fast-Loading
  18. programs. The registed version is limited only by your avail-
  19. able EMS or XMS.

  21.  You  may   unload  FL.EXE  (if   loaded  last)  with   a  /U
  22. command-line  option  and  it  will  release  the  associated
  23. memory. FL  itself takes only  4K of main  memory and may  be
  24. Loaded in  High Memory (UMB's)  with your memory  manager. FL
  25. will  NOT  load  protected  mode  programs,  such as WINDOWS,
  26. however,  it will  load real  mode mode  programs from within
  27. Windows in Enhanced Mode. Since  FL.EXE never writes to disk,
  28. it CANNOT  interfere with FAT  etc. It operates  only on EXEC
  29. related calls to  DOS. Other options for XMS,  EMS and STATUS
  30. are listed on the FL signon screen. FL will safely operate on
  31. ALL Networks as well.

  33.  Execution-Path-Management (EPM)  has been added  in the 1.10
  34. Release. When you type a program (included in FL.DAT) by name
  35. or load it  from a batch file, FL will  NOT allow DOS to scan
  36. the disk directory  & path prior to execution  of any program
  37. that is  referenced in the  FL.DAT file. This  really saves a
  38. bunch of wasted time. If you have a single executable file in
  39. the FL.dat that exists in  many of your directories, and need
  40. it to  report the current directory  name to the application,
  41. add a /k for Keyboard or /s for Search after the .EXE or .COM
  42. that should not have its  path managed. You can also globally
  43. disable  this feature  with a  /k or  /s on  the FL execution
  44. line. You should rarely need this set of options.
